Art Across Borders contest

The Kinda Foundation for Contemporary Arab Art (Riyad, Saudi Arabia), in collaboration with the Arab World Institute (Paris, France), is proud to call for a special international art contest (Art Across Borders) to highlight our creativity in self-isolation.

A few months ago, we would not have thought that we would be self-isolating in our homes. The Covd-19 pandemic has gone global and affects all segments of society in all countries, without any discrimination. We are certain that mankind will prevail on this devastating disease soon. Despite the limitations of staying at home and the dramatic changes in our everyday lives, it is more important than ever to affirm our creativity, as a sign of victory over fear and isolation.

This is what the “Art Across Borders” contest is all about. All participants are free to choose the subject matter, regardless if it is directly related to the pandemic or its repercussions. The winners will be announced in a tentative date in November 2020. 

 

Participating works shall include:

  • Section 1: Painting, sculpture, book art, object art or classic and digital printmaking provided that they are sizeable.
  • Section 2: Photography or video, provided that there are no copies and is produced after this announcement.

Conditions:

The photos of the works, along with their technical specifications, should be sent to the following e-mail ( info@kindafoundation.org ), which in turn will be presented to the technical committee.

  • The last date for receiving participants is 31 August 2020.
  • Participants should also send a recent personal photo, and provide a brief bio.
  • Once the competition is done, a book will be published and will be sent to the winning participants.
  • The artists will receive a prize and the collection of chosen that will be gifted by the Kinda Foundation for Contemporary Arab Art to the Arab World Institute in Paris.

Section 1 Awards:

Two prizes each 6,000 USD.

Four prizes each, 4,000 USD.

 

Section 2 Awards:

Two prizes each of 3,000 USD.

Two prizes each 2,000 USD.
